Celebrating the People and Places Eyes of Hope Helped in 2019
As we look back on 2019, Eyes of Hope are celebrating the people and places we’ve visited this year to help people in need see their world more clearly and experience all that’s possible for them. Astorino Eye Center is a proud partner!
From locations across the U.S. to South Africa, VSP Eyes of Hope is proud to have partnered with 8,500 VSP network doctors and community organizations to provide people in need with access to critical eye care and eyewear. Some of the communities who touched our hearts include the:
- Young women at the Girls Inc. Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) Camp, and all the organizations in the Nashville, Tennessee region where VSP is investing nearly $4 million to increase access to eye care
- Students of Monarch School in San Diego, California where we’ve been providing free eye care twice a year for six years to students and their families affected by homelessness
- Teachers and students who were devastated by last year’s Camp Fire in Northern California and participated in our outreach to provide free eye care, glasses, and clothing for back-to-school
- Community of Soweto, South Africa, where an eye care clinic was launched at the close of a multi-year project to increase access to eye care
2019 was full of unforgettable moments and we celebrate every life impacted by this work!
Whether the barrier is income, distance or disaster, VSP Eyes of Hope is committed to increasing access to vision care where it’s needed most. To date, we’ve helped more than 2.5 million people in need gain access to free vision care, and we’re on track to fulfill our commitment to help 3 million as we kick off 2020!
